Police have praised the behaviour of Schoolies during the first two nights of celebrations on the Gold Coast.
More than 10,000 school leavers descended on the Glitter Strip on Saturday to let their hair down for the next week.
But they caused little trouble with just two arrests being made on the weekend.
An 18-year-old Pimpama man was arrested after Police allegedly located 17 ecstasy tablets and $250 cash on him during a wanding operation in Surfers Paradise.
He has been charged with one count each of possessing dangerous drugs, supplying dangerous drugs and possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under the Drugs Misuse Act.
A 15-year-old Slacks Creek boy was also arrested after allegedly being found in possession of a knife.
Police say that the boy was not a Schoolie.
In total Police conducted 182 wandings on the opening night of celebrations.
Acting Chief Superintendent Brett Jackson says the behaviour of Schoolies can’t be faulted.
“I was out there myself on Saturday night walking around with our crews and all the volunteers,” Acting Chief Supt Jackson told the ABC.
“Most of the Police activity has been dealing with people who aren’t Schoolies just in the outer areas, but the Schoolies themselves have been acting fantastically.
“They’re, I guess, more health-conscious, they’re looking after their mates which is really good to see.”
Queensland Ambulance reports 41 patients were assessed at its Emergency Treatment Centre in Surfers on Saturday night with three of those taken to hospital for further treatment.
A total of 19 patients were assessed on night two with four of those taken to hospital.
