The skipper of a whale watching boat, damaged in rough seas off the Gold Coast earlier this week, is accused of being high while captaining the vessel.
The boat left the Broadwater on Wednesday morning with about 30 passengers and two staff on board.
Just minutes into the journey, it was struck by a rogue wave which smashed the front windscreen and sent passengers flying.
Two people suffered minor injuries and needed to be taken to hospital for further treatment once the boat got safely back to shore at Southport.
Queensland Police have since been revealed the 25-year-old skipper allegedly returned a positive drug test to meth and cocaine.
The Coombabah man will front court next month.
His marine licence has also been suspended.
