A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a woman and damaging a car in Main Beach.
Police say a 19-year-old woman was walking in a car park on Seaworld Drive around 1.40pm on Sunday when she was allegedly approached by the man and struck across the face.
The young woman was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.
Just 10 minutes later, the same man allegedly caused damage to a BYD Atto 3 vehicle by jumping onto the bonnet.
Officers rushed to the scene and located the man in a nearby car park where he was taken into custody a short time later.

The 44-year-old from Labrador has since been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm, wilful damage and contravene direction or requirement of a police officer.
He is due to reappear at Southport Magistrates Court on 1 June.
Investigations are continuing.
