Gold Coast police officers are being praised for their quick-thinking actions after helping to save a family dog from a house fire in Currumbin Waters.
Emergency services were called to a Border Drive address around 10.15am on Thursday following reports of a house fire.
The officers from the Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrol and Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch were first on scene and noticed smoke coming from inside the property before finding something alight in the kitchen.
They worked alongside each other to extinguish the blaze before conducting a thorough search of the home to ensure nobody was inside.
An officer did find a border collie hiding out on a couch at the rear of the smoke-filled property before they carried it outside to safety.
Several officers were assessed and treated for minor smoke inhalation as a precaution but nobody, including the border collie, suffered any serious injuries.
