Gold Coasters have been jolted awake this morning by loud, howling winds as a severe weather system lashes the city.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a strong wind warning, recording an early gust of 52 km/hr at the Gold Coast Seaway.
Residents are being urged to secure any loose items around their properties, as the powerful gusts continue to sweep through the city.
The conditions are also churning up local waters, with coastal seas expected to rise from 1 to 1.5 metres and up to 2 to 3 metres during the course of the morning.
Today’s forecast brings partly cloudy skies with a high chance of showers, alongside a maximum temperature of 22C that will feel significantly colder due to the strong wind chill.
