UPDATE @ 6.30AM, Tuesday, August 4 | Police have now charged a man over an alleged assault outside a Gold Coast pub.

Emergency services were called to the Boathouse Tavern in Coomera around 1am on Sunday following reports a 36-year-old man had been attacked.

The man had suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital.

He remained in an induced coma on Monday.

Police arrested a 27-year-old Southport man in Ormeau around 1pm on Monday.

Police will allege he approached the victim in the carpark of the pub before striking him in the face, before the man fell and hit his head.

The Southport man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.

He is due to front Southport Magistrates Court today.

LATEST @ 3.30 PM | A man has been arrested over the alleged brutal assault of another man at a popular Gold Coast pub.

The 36-year-old man was attacked at the Boathouse Tavern in Coomera around 1am on Sunday, leaving him with serious head injuries.

The victim was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Police say the other man left the scene shortly after in a rideshare vehicle, sparking a major search.

Following investigations, a 27-year-old man was arrested at a home in Ormeau on Monday afternoon.

EARLIER @ 5.30 AM | A man is in a critical condition in hospital following an alleged assault outside a popular Gold Coast pub.

Emergency services were called to the Boathouse Tavern in Coomera around 1am on Sunday.

It follows reports a man in his 30s had sustained serious head injuries following an altercation with another man.

The victim was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital where he has since been placed in an induced coma.

Police say the other man left the scene shortly after in a rideshare.

Investigations into the incident are continuing as Police work to track that man down.
